Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 192 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Nine people were arrested and five were on outstanding warrants.
Woman Arrested for Outstanding Warrant – CK24049325
On Thursday, October 3, 2024, at approximately 09:00 a.m., Chatham-Kent Police received a report of a female laying on the ground in the area of James Street in Wallaceburg, possibly needing assistance. Officers attended to conduct a wellbeing check, and upon identifying the female, it was learned there was an outstanding warrant for her arrest in relation to failing to attend court in connection to an assault investigation.
Officers confirmed her wellbeing and placed the 27-year-old Wallaceburg woman under arrest on the strength of the outstanding warrant.
Upon arrest, the woman was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters, where she was processed and held pending a bail hearing.
Commercial Break and Enter- CK24049327
On Thursday, October 3, 2024, at approximately 09:00 a.m., Chatham-Kent Police received a report of a break and enter at a commercial business on Richmond Street in Chatham, that took place at approximately 2:30 a.m., based on video surveillance reviewed.
Unknown suspect (s) gained entry by breaking the glass door and rummaged through the cash register.
Police cleared the interior of the business and observed that everything was in order other than smashed glass from the front door. The owner confirmed that no other damage was caused, and no monetary funds from the cash register were taken.
Estimated damage was approximately $1,000.
This investigation is still ongoing.

Woman Arrested for Robbery- CK24049427
On Thursday, October 3, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Chatham-Kent Police received a call from a business in the area of Keil Drive South in Chatham. Reporting that a woman had stolen several items from their store, and in the process of doing so, pushed two employees when exiting the store. No injuries were sustained.
Upon police arrival, a woman matching the description provided by staff members, was located in the nearby area, around Warwick Drive, Chatham.
The 30-year-old Chatham woman was identified by officers from previous police involvement, and subsequently placed under arrest for one count of robbery and one count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Upon arrest, the woman was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters, where she was processed and later released with conditions and a future court date.
