Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 163 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested, and one was on an outstanding warrant.
Man Arrested for Mischief CK24025147
At 6:10 a.m., police responded to Stanley Avenue in Chatham to investigate suspicious activity. It was reported a man was attempting to break into vehicles, was damaging property and was intimidating people.
Upon arrival, officers located the man and arrested him.
The 34-year-old Chatham Kent man was transported to police headquarters where he was held pending a bail hearing. The man was charged with mischief.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK24025160
At 9:40 a.m., police responded to check on the well-being of a man observed slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle at Kingston Park in Chatham.
Officer attended and believed the man to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance. He was arrested and transported to the Ontario Provincial Police station for tests.
The 56-year-old Chatham Kent man was charged with impaired driving. He was released with conditions and a future court date of July 17, 2024.
Man Arrested for Assault CK24025187
At 12:30 p.m., police responded to Sandys Street in Chatham for an assault investigation.
Upon arrival, officers learned a verbal argument escalated between the man and the woman, when the man assaulted the woman as she was attempting to leave the residence.
The 24-year-old Chatham man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a future court date of July 8, 2024. He has been charged with assault.
Man Arrested for Mischief CK24025188
At 12:32 p.m., police responded to Peachtree Lane in Chatham for a mischief investigation.
Through investigation, officers learned the man attended the address and damaged three vehicles. The man was also prohibited from attending the addressed by conditions in a release order.
The man was located on Argyle Street and arrested.
The 22-year-old Chatham Kent man was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He has been charged with failing to comply with an undertaking and three counts of mischief.
Woman Arrested for Bail Violations CK24025218
At 2:59 p.m., police responded to Longwoods Roads in Kent Bridge for an assault investigation.
Officers learned the woman attended the address and engaged in a verbal argument with a man. The argument escalated when the woman assaulted the man. Further investigation that on October 3, 2023, and May 5, 2024, the woman had been released from custody with conditions prohibiting her from going to any place a specified person was known to live, work or go to school. The address was the residence of the person named in the conditions and the woman attended the address on June 1st and 2nd, 2024.
The 36-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she was held pending a bail hearing. She was charged with assault and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.
Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK24025263
At 7:31 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on a man observed sleeping in a parking lot on Adelaide Street North in Chatham.
Officers attended and learned the man was wanted for failing to attend court in relation to a probation violation investigation.
The 54-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released with a new court date of June 24, 2024.
