Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 178 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Nine people were arrested, and four were on outstanding warrants.
Woman Arrested for Weapon Offences CK24035015
At 4:31 p.m., police responded to Wellington Street East for a weapons investigation.
Information was received the woman had been involved in an ongoing feud with her neighbour. The woman approached the neighbours with a long gun accusing them of theft. As the argument escalated the woman raised the gun, pointing it at the individuals.
Officers attended and arrested the woman without incident. The firearm was seized and determined to be a pellet gun.
The 40-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she was held pending a bail hearing. She is currently facing the following charges: possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and pointing a firearm.
Man Arrested for Failure to Comply with a Demand CK24035038
At 8:25 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Lacroix Street in Chatham after observing a vehicle matching the description of a traffic complaint received earlier in the evening.
Officers believed the man to be under the influence of alcohol and required the man to participate in a Standard Field Sobriety Test. When the man refused to comply, he was arrested.
The 55-year-old Chatham man was released with a future court date of August 12, 2024. He was charged with refuse/failure to comply with a demand. His vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days. His license was also suspended for 90 days.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK24035076
On July 26, 2024, at 1:56 a.m., police observed the vehicle travelling on St. Clair Street in Chatham and conducted a traffic stop.
The officer believed the man driving to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters for tests.
The 20-year-old Chatham Township man will be released with conditions and a future court date of August 12, 2024. He is facing the following charges: impaired driving and having a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit.
Serious Motor Vehicle Collision
On July 25, 2024, at 3:46 p.m., emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Pain Court Line and Town Line Road in Dover Township.
A motorcycle travelling westbound on Pain Court Line and a vehicle travelling southbound on Townline met at the intersection. The motorcyclist dropped the bike to avoid a collision. As a result, sustained extensive physical injury. He was transported to a Windsor Hospital in critical conditions.
