The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 202 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested, and one was on an outstanding warrant.
Couple arrested for Intimate Partner Violence offences- CK23033659
On July 1st around 10:00am, police attended a residence in Chatham for a breach of IPV bail violations. Through investigation, it was found the 28 year old man had been communicating with his ex-girlfriend and attended her residence. He was charged with Failing to Comply with Release Order and was released from custody with a future court date. Police also learned the 26 female party had been allowing the male to attend her residence. As a result she was also charged with Facilitating a Breach and was released on a future court date.
Man arrested for Impaired Driving – CK23033697
Around 3:30pm, police received a traffic complaint involving a vehicle swerving all over the road in the area of Grand Ave E, Chatham. Police located the vehicle as it was pulling into a driveway. The officer believed the driver was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for impaired driving. The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests. The 43-year-old Chatham man was also charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released with conditions and a future court date.
Man arrested for Intimate Partner Violence – CK23033752
Shortly before 9:00pm, police were called to a residence in Wheatley for a report of a domestic incident. Police learned through investigation a man had breached a previous release order by attending the victim’s residence. Police learned the male had assaulted the victim and threatened to kill her. The male party was arrested for Assault Bodily Harm, Utter Threats and Fail to Comply with Undertaking and was held pending a bail hearing.
