The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 198 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested, and five were arrested on outstanding warrants.
Motor Vehicle Collision CK23049359
On Tuesday, September 19th, 2023, at around 6:30 a.m., emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle collision on Queen Street at Tweedsmuir Avenue East in the city of Chatham.
A man travelling north bound on Queen Street, was stopped at the traffic light when he was struck from behind by an unknown party.
Following the collision, the man that was struck from behind attempted to check on the driver who struck him; however, the vehicle was found empty.
Through investigation, police learned the vehicle responsible for the collision was recently reported stolen.
The 36-year-old Chatham male sustained minor injuries and minor damages to his vehicle. The well-being of the other driver is unknown at this time and the collision remains under investigation. The owner of the stolen vehicle has been notified.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK23049347
On Tuesday, September 19th, 2023, at around 7:10 a.m. emergency crews responded to a collision involving a vehicle and cyclist on St. Clair Street at Regency Drive, in the city of Chatham.
A man bicycling north on St. Clair Street was approaching the intersection of Regency Drive when a vehicle turning south onto St. Clair Street from Regency Drive began to make the turn and collided with the cyclist.
The cyclist, a 55 -year-old Chatham man was transported to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance by EMS with injuries and the driver, a 76 -year-old Chatham man was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for Turn not in Safety.
Motor Vehicle Collision CK23049427
Yesterday at approximately 4:38 p.m., emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Grand Avenue West and Bear Line, in the city of Chatham.
The parties involved, a 23-year-old female and 22-year-old female sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene. The 23-year-old female was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for Turn Not in Safety.
At this time the Chatham-Kent Police Service does not have any more information to provide regarding these collisions.
Male Charged with Numerous Charges Following Disturbance CK23049463
Yesterday at approximately 8:30 p.m., police responded to a disturbance call in the area of Bruce Street and Victoria in the city of Wallaceburg.
Prior to arrival, police were informed that a male and female party were in a verbal argument and the male party was believed to be in possession of a machete.
Upon arrival police located and identified the male who was known to police from previous incidents. Through investigation police learned the male previously entered into a weapons prohibition as a result of a conviction in addition to be abiding by release conditions from other outstanding charges.
The 32-year-old Wallaceburg male was arrested for three counts of Fail to Comply with Release Order, three counts of Possession Contrary to Prohibition Order, one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, and two counts of Possession for The Purpose of Trafficking.
The accused was transported to headquarters where he has been held pending a bail hearing.
