The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 160 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested, and four were arrested on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for multiple Theft and Possession charges CK23049284
Yesterday afternoon, at approximately 9:50 p.m., police responded to a call regarding a theft from a business located on Communication Road in Blenheim.
Police located the accused in the area and observed numerous stolen products from various stores. Through investigation, police were able to confirm three businesses who were victim to the accused stealing the merchandise in his possession.
The 45-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with three counts of Theft Under $5000 and three counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. The accused was transported to police headquarters where he has been held pending a bail hearing.
Man arrested for Assault CK23049305
Last night at approximately 9:50 p.m., Police responded to a residence on Arrowhead Lane in the city of Chatham in regard to an assault.
Upon attending, police learned the parties were in a dispute over a missing water bottle when the accused became upset and attempted to punch the victim, nearly missing; however, still injuring the victim.
The 21-year-old Chatham man was arrested for one count of Assault. The accused was transported to police headquarters and later released with condition and a future court date of October 30th, 2023.
Break and Enter in Chatham CK23049109
Sometime yesterday unknown suspect(s) damaged and entered a home located on Cecile Street, Chatham. Numerous items were taken.

Traffic enforcement
Yesterday, members of our Traffic Management Unit teamed up with members of the Canadian Pacific Kansas City Police (formerly Canadian Pacific Railway Police) for Rail Safety Week. Officers worked in the area of Longwoods Road, Kent Bridge Road and Indian Creek Road.
Their presence paid off as they successfully identified and issued 9 Provincial Offences Notices, 3 warnings in addition to passing out information pamphlets.
Road and railway safety and compliance with regulations are of utmost importance to ensure a safe driving environment. Let’s prioritize road safety and be responsible drivers.
