The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 169 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three people were arrested, and one was on an outstanding warrant.
Man Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK23047850
At 7:59 a.m., police responded to a domestic disturbance on Emily Street in Wallaceburg. Upon investigation, it was discovered that a man had gone to the woman’s home to retrieve personal items. An argument ensued between the two, which quickly escalated into a physical altercation. During the conflict, the man reportedly brandished a machete and began tapping the woman on the head. Fortunately, the woman managed to escape and find safety.
Police promptly arrived at the scene and located the man in the backyard. He was subsequently arrested. Further investigation revealed that the court had released the man with conditions prohibiting him from possessing weapons.
The 47-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with assault with a weapon and failing to comply with a release order. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
Woman Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK23047853
At 8:30 p.m., while on general patrol, officers observed the woman on Wellington Street West in Chatham.
Officers confirmed the woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court related to shoplifting and breach of probation investigations.
The 32-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and released with a future court date.
Police are Seeking the Public’s Assistance CK23045439
The Chatham-Kent Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying this individual in a mischief investigation.
On August 29, 2023, at 11:14 a.m., police responded to the Cenotaph on Sixth Street in Chatham for a mischief investigation. Officers arrived and found a vulgar comment written on the Cenotaph in blue marker.
Through investigation, police have obtained surveillance footage and are looking to identify the individual in the attached image.
