The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 193 calls for service in the last 24 hours. 18 people were arrested.
CKPS assist OPP in Search and Arrest CK23051826
Yesterday morning at approximately 9:35 a.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service received a request from OPP for assistance from officers in locating a male in relation to a stolen utility trailer with tools inside.
Prior to CKPS arrival, police learned a male party evaded OPP on foot and was believed to be hiding along the Thames River in the Longwoods Road and Communication Road area.
Police attended the area and deployed K9 Helix as well as the CKPS drone and successfully located the man who had swam across the Thames River and attempted to hide in tall weeds and mud.
The 50-year-old Chatham man was arrested and turned over to OPP.
Man arrested for Breach of Peace CK23051860
Yesterday morning at approximately 11:23 a.m., police responded to the area of Coverdale Street, Chatham in response to an unconscious male.
Upon arrival, Police located the male who appeared to be under the influence. While receiving medical attention the male began to act out erratically; attempting to grab and bite paramedics and refusing to obey commands.
The 32-year-old Chatham man was arrested for Breach of Peace and transported to police headquarters where he was held until sober and later released. No injuries occurred during interaction.
Man Arrested for Intoxicated in a Public Place CK23051977
On Wednesday at approximately 12:17 a.m., police responded to a disturbance in the area of Badder Line, Merlin.
Prior to arrival, police learned the man was under the influence and acting out; damaging the residence and attempting to engage in argument.
Police arrived on the scene and found the man intoxicated and unable to care for himself.
The 45-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a public place. He was transported to police headquarters and held until he was sober.
