The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 171 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Nine people were arrested, and four people were arrested on outstanding warrants.
Man arrested on Warrants CK2305165
Yesterday morning Police attended the area of Riverview Drive in Chatham, in response to unwanted parties. While attending Police observed a male known to them from previous occurrences.
Through investigation Police learned the male was currently wanted on outstanding warrants for the charges of Break and Enter with Intent, Possession of Break in Instruments, three counts of Fail to Attend Court, Fail to Comply and Obstruct Police.
The 45-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested, transported to Police custody and held pending a bail hearing.
Female arrested for Theft CK23051358
On Saturday September 30th, 2023, at approximately 7:04 a.m., the accused attended an on address Grand Avenue East, Chatham, and was observed on video surveillance taking multiple outdoor items without permission.
Through investigation police confirmed the identity in the video surveillance to be the accused, who is known to police from previous occurrences.
On Tuesday October 3rd, 2023, at approximately 1:17 a.m., police located the accused and subsequently the 32-year-old Chatham female was charged and arrested with two counts of theft under $5000.00.
The accused was transported to Police headquarters where she has been held pending a bail hearing.
Man arrested following Traffic Stop CK23051748
Yesterday evening at approximately 5:21p.m., an officer was on general patrol in the area of Park Avenue East in the city of Chatham when the officer’s Automatic Licence Plate Reader detected the registered owner of a vehicle was a suspended driver.
A traffic stop was initiated and through investigation, the officer learned the driver of the vehicle’s licence was suspended and determined to be prohibited drive x8 and failing to comply with his form 11 release order condition not to operate a motor vehicle without a valid license in his name.
The 42-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with 8 counts of Operate While Prohibited and one count of Faily to Comply with Release order. The accused was then transported to Police custody and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK23051772
Yesterday evening at approximately 7:50 p.m., police received information about a possible impaired driver in the parking lot of business in the area of Talbot Street West, Blenheim. Details of the vehicle and the driver were provided to the police by a concerned citizen.
Police located the vehicle and driver who was found unconscious in the vehicle. The man eventually woke up to police and Standard Field Sobriety Test was conducted; Police determined the man was impaired by drug.
The 38-year-old Chatham man was charged with Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs and Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand. He was transported to police headquarters and later released with a future court date of October 16th, 2023.
