The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 146 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested, and one was on outstanding warrants.
Woman Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK23054205
At 6:03 a.m., police responded to a home on Wellington Street in Chatham for a disturbance.
Officers learned the woman and the man engaged in a verbal argument that escalated when the woman struck the man in the face with a closed fist, resulting in a minor physical injury. Officers also discovered the woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant for possession of stolen property.
The 29-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with assault. She was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of November 27, 2023.
Man Arrested for Bail Violations CK23054206
At 6:29 a.m., police responded to a business on Third Street in Chatham. According to the information received, a man was present at the business and was repeatedly asked to leave, but he refused to comply. Additionally, there were suspicions that he had a knife in his possession.
Upon arriving at the scene, the officers successfully located the man and took him into custody for trespassing. During the arrest, a knife was discovered in his possession. Further investigation confirmed that the man was under specific conditions that prohibited him from having weapons.
The 38-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with breach of probation. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Youth Arrested for Bail Violations CK23054292
On October 7, 2023, the male youth was arrested for aggravated assault and released with conditions which included a curfew requiring him to be at his home between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
On October 16, 2023, police received information the youth was breaching this condition and began an investigation.
Through investigation, the investigating officer formed grounds to charge the youth with failing to comply with a release order. At 9:05 p.m., the investigating officer attended an address in Chatham that the youth is known to visit. When the officer knocked on the door, the youth answered.
The 17-year-old Chatham youth was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK23054333
At 9:10 p.m., police responded to Colby Road in Ridgetown for a domestic dispute.
After investigating, the officers discovered the man had acted aggressively towards the woman during the evening. Officers learned the man had vandalized the woman’s property and assaulted her.
The 26-year-old Aylmer man was arrested and charged with mischief and assault. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of November 27, 2023.
