The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 194 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested.
Woman Charged with Assault CK23022326
Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a disturbance at a property in the downtown Chatham area.
Through investigation, police learned that the woman assaulted two staff members, as they attempted to remove her from the property, in which she had already been trespassed.
The 31-year-old Tilbury woman was arrested and charged with two counts of assault. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Theft CK23022380
Last night, just before 8:00 p.m. police responded to a shoplifting complaint at the Real Canadian Superstore on St. Clair Street in Chatham.
Officers located the man a short distance away and he was taken into custody. Through investigation, police learned that the man was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.
The 45-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft under $5000, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000 and failing to comply with his Probation Order. He was released pending a future court of June 5, 2023.
Traffic Stop leads to Arrest CK23022423
Around 2:30 a.m. this morning, officers on general patrol conducted a traffic stop on Park Avenue East in Chatham.
Through investigation, officers learned that one of the passengers was currently bound by conditions not to communicate with the driver. Upon being searched, incident to arrest, the woman was found to be in possession of suspected crystal methamphetamine.
The 52-year-old Chatham woman was charged with failing to comply with her release conditions and drug possession. She was released pending a future court date of June 8, 2023.
