The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 145 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested.
Man Charged with Break and Enter CK23022138
On May 4, 2023, police responded to a break and enter in Howard Township where several tools were stolen from a garage, on two separate occasions.
Through investigation, police identified the man responsible.
Yesterday afternoon, police located the man, and he was arrested. The 43-year-old Ridgetown man has been charged with two counts of Break and Enter and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Impaired Driving CK23022196
Shortly after 6:00 p.m. last night, police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Buckingham Road near Whitebread Line in St. Clair Township.
Through investigation, officers suspected the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol. A roadside breath test was conducted, and the man failed. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.
The 52-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released pending a future court date of June 12, 2023.
Minor injuries were reported. Total damage was estimated at $7,000.
Suspicious Persons Call Leads to Arrest CK23022214
Around 9:00 p.m. last night, police responded to the report of a suspicious person in the area of a greenhouse in Camden Township.
Officers located the man and through investigation learned that he was currently wanted for assault with a weapon causing bodily harm and uttering threats. The 46-year-old man, of no fixed address, was released pending a future court date of June 12, 2023.
Man Charged with Weapons Offence CK23022222
Just before 10:00 p.m. last night, police received information that a man, in the area of St. Clair Street in Chatham, may be in possession of a firearm. Officers flooded the area and located the man in a parking lot, sitting in his car. Through investigation, police determined that the man was in possession of a BB gun.
The 32-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was released pending a future court date of June 12, 2023.
Police Looking for the Public’s Assistance CK23021517
On May 4, 2023 around 8:20 a.m. officers responded to the area of Grand Avenue East in Chatham, where an urn was located in the tree line.
The urn has a blue ribbon with the name ‘Tara’ inside a heart pendant.
