Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK24024577
At 10:56 a.m., police responded to Victoria Street in Thamesville to conduct a well-being check on a man observed sleeping at the wheel of his vehicle while at the stop sign at Jane Street.
Officers attended and believed the man to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance. The officer also found drug paraphernalia containing suspected fentanyl. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for tests.
The 37-year-old Bothwell man was charged with impaired driving by drugs, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. He was released with conditions and a future court date of July 13, 2024.
Man Arrested for Theft CK24017879
At 13:01 p.m., the man attended Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and turned himself in to the police. The man was wanted in an April 22, 2024, theft investigation from a Richmond Street organization in Chatham.
The 38-year-old Lakeshore man was arrested and released with conditions and a future court date of July 8, 2024. He has been charged with theft and possession of stolen property.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK24024718
On May 31, 2024, at 1:30 a.m., an officer on patrol observed a vehicle travelling from Thames Street to Grand Avenue in Chatham. The vehicle was observed swerving between lanes, which resulted in the officer conducting a traffic stop.
The officer believed the man driving to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The man was also violating other provincial laws. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.
The 19-year-old Chatham man was charged with impaired driving and having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit under the Criminal Code of Canada. He was also charged with driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available under the Liquor License and Control Act and G1 driver unaccompanied by a qualified driver and G1 drive at unlawful hour under the Highway Traffic Act. He was released with conditions and a future court date of June 17, 2024. His license was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for 7days.
