Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 145 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eight person was arrested and three on an outstanding warrant.
Man Arrested for Possession of Stolen Property CK24024210
At 6:37 a.m., police responded to check on the well-being of a man reported staggering on the front lawn of a Grand Avenue East residence in Chatham.
Officers located the man and took him into custody for public intoxication. Upon a search incident to arrest, officers located identification that had been reported stolen from Tilbury on May 22, 2024.
The 41-year-old Chatham Kent man was released with a future court date of June 24, 2024. He has been charged with possession of stolen property.
Man arrested for Fraud CK24024225
At 9:44 a.m., police located a man on King Street East in Chatham who was a suspect in a fraud investigation reported earlier in the day, where a stolen credit can had been used at local businesses.
As the officer attempted to stop and speak with the man, the man fled. The man jumped in the river attempting to escape but panicked and had to be pulled from the water by the officer.
The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was released with conditions and a future courted date of June 24, 2024. He has been charged with unauthorized use of a credit card.
Man Arrested for Public Mischief CK24024235
At 11:00 a.m., the man was located by officers on McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham. Officers confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to a public mischief charge from April 19, 2024.
The 71-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released with a new court date of June 17, 2024. He is currently facing the following charges: assault, and public mischief.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK24024290
At 4:49 p.m., an off-duty officer observed a vehicle swerving over the roadway on Nichols Drive in Blenheim. The officer followed the vehicle while providing details to the Emergency Communication Centre. The officer was able to conduct a traffic stop and arrested the man on Talbot Trail.
Uniform officers arrived on the scene and took the man into custody. The man was transported to police headquarters for tests.
The 58-year-old Leamington man was charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released with conditions and a future court date of June 10, 2024. His vehicle was towed and impounded.
Man Arrested for Break and Enter CK24024310
At 6:19 p.m., members of the Intelligence Unit located a man on Wellington Street East in Chatham matching the description of a man involved in several commercial break and enter investigations.
Through investigation officers confirmed identity and arrested the man.
The 27-year-old Chatham Kent man was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: possession of a stole credit card, theft, two counts of possession of stolen property, and four counts of break and enter.
Man Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK24024327
At 7:51 p.m., police responded to Grand Avenue West in Chatham for a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers learned a verbal argument between the man and the woman escalated when the man assaulted the woman. During the argument the man also threatened to harm the woman.
Officers also learned the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to a 2023 theft investigation. Upon a search incident to arrest the man was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine.
The 36-year-old Chatham Kent man was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: assault, uttering threats, possession of a controlled substance, theft, two counts of mischief, and two counts of possession of stolen property.
Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK24024353/CK24024354
On May 29, 2024, at 3:01 a.m., police responded to Wellington Street West in Chatham for a trespassing investigation. Officers located three men. One man was confirmed wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to a 2023 threats investigation. The second was wanted for a mischief at a William Street, Chatham establishment that had been reported on May 28, 2024.
The 42-year-old Chatham Kent man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: failing to attend court and two counts of uttering threats.
The 33-year-old Chatham Kent man was arrested and released with a future court date. He has been charged with mischief, theft, and possession of stolen property.
