Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 211 calls for service in the last 24 hours. 13 people were arrested and 6 were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK24023674
At 5:15 a.m., police responded to a call for service on Keil Dr., South, in Chatham. A 26-year-old male had been involved in an earlier domestic related complaint and was later observed by police operating a motor vehicle in area of his girlfriend’s residence. An Alcohol Screening Device was administered and registered as a failure. The out of province male was then arrested for impaired over 80+ and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters. His vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.
The 26-year-old man was later released with a future court date.
Traffic Enforcement CK24023559
Last evening, members of the Traffic Management Unit conducted traffic enforcement throughout the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, specifically in the downtown Chatham area. A total of 18 tickets were issued for various offences relating to the Highway Traffic Act.
Members of the Traffic Management Unit also issued 10 warnings, seized three sets of licence plates, and towed 3 different motor vehicles.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service reminds motorists to obey the speed limit. Speed is almost always a significant factor in collisions with serious and fatal injuries. Road safety is everyone’s responsibility. Make it a priority when you drive.
Break and Enter in Chatham CK24021683
At approximately 1:57 p.m., police were called to a residential address in the area of Taylor Av, in Chatham regarding a break and enter.
Upon investigation it was determined that a 45-year-old male was found sleeping in a chair inside the residence after the victim had returned home. After the man woke-up, he then left the residence.
The 45-year-old Chatham man was later located and arrested for being unlawfully in a dwelling. The male was then transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters and later released with a future court date and conditions.
