The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 161 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested.
Man Charged with Assault CK23024077
Yesterday morning, police responded to a disturbance, between two men, known to each other, at a residence on Park Street in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that the man assaulted another tenant in the home during a verbal argument.
The 33-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault. He was released pending a future court date of June 12, 2023.
Disturbance leads to Two Arrests CK23024162 / CK23024169
Last night, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham.
Upon arrival, officers learned that the man, was currently bound by conditions not to communicate with the woman or attend her home. Officers found the man hiding in a locked bedroom.
The 34-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions. He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Another woman in the home, was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for obstruct police. The 31-year-old Chatham woman was released pending a future court date of June 12, 2023.
Break and Enter in Chatham CK23024110
On May 16 around 4:30 a.m. and May 17 around 4:15 a.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a fenced compound of a business on Queen Street. Once inside, the suspect(s) dismantled several old transformers, slated to be recycled, and removed the inner components while tipping out all the oil. The suspect(s) also stole copper bars from inside a transformer.
Total value of the theft has been estimated at $3,000. The cost of the environmental clean-up of the oil has been estimated at $15,000.

Break and Enter in Dresden CK23024204
Just before 3:00 a.m. this morning, police responded to an alarm at a gas station on St. George Street.
Upon arrival, officers observed that the front door of the business had been smashed. The suspects stole the cash register, which was empty.
The first suspect was described as:
- White man with facial hair
- Wearing a black Helly Hanson jacket, khaki pants and white shoes
The second suspect was described as:
- Wearing a black coat with a flat brimmed black and purple hat, white gloves, grey pants and black shoes
The suspects were last seen leaving in a dark coloured vehicle.
