Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 148 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Four people were arrested.
Man Arrested for Assault CK24012002
At 11:24 a.m., police responded to Talbot Street West in Blenheim for an assault investigation.
Investigation revealed the man, and the victim are currently involved in a civil dispute with each other. Prior to the call to the police, the man forced entry into the victim’s home and assaulted him causing minor physical injury.
The 55-year-old man was located a short time later and arrested. He was transported to police headquarters and charged with break and enter, and assault. He was released with conditions and a future court date of April 22, 2024.
Man Arrested for Public Intoxication CK24012102
At 11:51 p.m., police responded outside of a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham for a disturbance.
Upon arrival, the man was found intoxicated and unable care for himself. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters.
The 24-year-old Chatham man was held until he was sober.
Public Caution CK24011776
At 8:35 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police responded to a 911 call reporting an individual screaming for help from a moving vehicle on Tweedsmuir Avenue East in Chatham. Officers quickly responded to the area.
Upon locating the vehicle, officers confirmed that there was no actual need for assistance. Further investigation revealed that the occupants of the vehicle were engaged in recording a TikTok Challenge.
The Chatham-Kent Police would like to emphasize the importance of exercising caution and responsibility when participating in challenges that may disrupt public order, incite panic, or prompt unnecessary contact with emergency services. These types of challenges not only impose significant stress and concern on individuals who witness them, but they also divert emergency resources that could otherwise be utilized for genuine emergencies.
We strongly urge individuals to consider the potential consequences and ramifications of their actions before engaging in challenges that have the potential to cause public disruption.
