Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 165 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested and two were on outstanding warrants.
Woman Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK24029931
At 4:42 p.m. police responded to Wellington Street area in Chatham for suspicious activity and located the woman.
Officers confirmed she was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to an October 2023 drug investigation in Chatham.
The 29-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she was held pending a bail hearing. She is currently facing the following charges: possession of a loaded restricted/prohibited firearm, failing to attend court, three counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, four counts of careless storage of a firearm, five counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK24029943
At 5:21 p.m., police responded to Victoria Street in Wallaceburg to assist EMS with a man requiring medical attention.
Officer confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to a March 2024 mischief investigation in Wallaceburg.
The 27-year-old Chatham Kent man was arrested and released with a new court date. He is currently facing the following charges: assault, assault with a weapon and mischief.
Man Arrested for Assault with a Weapon CK24029982
At 9:33 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Erie Street South in Merlin.
Officer learned the man and the woman engaged in a verbal argument that escalated when the man threw a steel-toed boot at the woman. Further investigation revealed other past incidents of assault.
The 39-year-old Chatham Kent man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: assault, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, break-and-enter and two counts of uttering threats.
Woman Arrested for Public Intoxication CK24029987
At 10:41 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Manning Drive in Chatham. It was reported a woman was yelling and banging on doors of multiple homes in the area.
Upon arrival officers located the woman and found her highly intoxicated and unable to care for herself.
The 19-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she was held until sober.
Man Arrested for Break-and-Enter CK24029998
On June 28, 2024, at 1:15 a.m., police responded to a break-and-enter in progress on Dufferin Avenue in Chatham. A man was observed climbing into a window of a residence using a ladder.
Officers attended and quickly took the man into custody. Officers learned the man had been released by the courts with conditions prohibiting him from being outside his residence and being at any place specified individuals were known to live, work or attend school. The apartment was the residence of one of those named individuals.
The 35-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: careless storage of a firearm, possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm, break-and-enter, two counts of failing to comply with a release order, and six counts of possession of a firearm/ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.
