Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 199 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Three people were arrested and two were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK24029297
At 7:17 a.m., the man attended Chatham Kent Police headquarters and turned himself in to the police.
The man was wanted for failing to attend court in relation to a February 2023 impaired driving investigation on Talbot Trail in Raleigh Township.
The 23-year-old Kingsville man was arrested and released with a new court date. He is currently facing the following charges: impaired driving and failure/refusal to comply with a demand.
Man Arrested on Surety Relief Warrant RM24002072
At 3:46 p.m., the man attended the Ontario Court of Justice and was arrested.
On January 21, 2024, the man was arrested as a result of a robbery investigation. As a result of a bail hearing, the man was released by the court with conditions, including a surety. When the surety decided to no longer participate a warrant was issued for the man’s arrest.
The 24-year-old Chatham man was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: break-and-enter, pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon/firearm for a dangerous purpose, imitation firearm – use while committing an offence, and robbery.
Fatal Vehicle Collision CK24029387
On June 24, 2024, at 4:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to Longwoods Road between Dew Drop Road and Huff’s Side Road in Thamesville for a serious motor vehicle collision.
The collision occurred when a westbound vehicle, occupied by a driver and two passengers, veered into the eastbound lane. The vehicle collided with an eastbound vehicle, occupied by a driver. The westbound vehicle came to rest on the north side of the roadway, while the eastbound vehicle came to rest on the south side of the roadway.
As a result of the collision, the driver of the eastbound vehicle and the passengers of the westbound vehicle sustained minor physical injury. The driver of the westbound vehicle, a 41-year-old Dresden man, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
