The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 162 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Ten people were arrested, and six were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Weapons Offences CK23030255
At 12:10 p.m., police responded to Grand Avenue East in Chatham for an assault investigation.
Through investigation, police learned the victim was walking near the east end of Stanley Street when the man approached him. The man was holding a knife in a threatening manner. A verbal and physical altercation ensued, which resulted in bodily injury to the victim.
Police located the man a short time later, still in the area.
The 41-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with dangerous weapons and assault causing bodily harm. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date.
Man Arrested for Uttering Threats CK23030349
At 10:10 p.m., police responded to Grand Avenue West in Chatham for a threat investigation.
Police learned the victim was aggressively approached by a man in a vehicle at a Chatham gas station. As the man exited the vehicle, he made an utterance to harm the victim. The victim did not know the man. Through investigation, police learned the identity of the man and located him.
The 51-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with uttering threats. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of July 10, 2023.
Woman Arrested for Impaired Driving CK23030357
At 11:06 p.m., police responded to a traffic complaint on Kent Bridge Road in Chatham Township. It was reported the vehicle was driving erratically.
Police attended in the area, located the vehicle, and conducted a traffic stop. Officers believed the woman was operating the vehicle while impaired, and she was arrested. The woman was transported to police headquarters for further sobriety tests.
The 58-year-old Chatham woman was charged with impaired driving. She was released with a future court date of July 26, 2023. Her driver’s license was seized, the vehicle was impounded and she received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS).
