The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 174 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested, and five were on outstanding warrants.
Woman Arrested for Mischief CK23030008
At 10:30 a.m., police responded to Raleigh Street in Chatham for a mischief investigation.
Through investigation, police learned the victim and the woman were involved in an ongoing neighbour dispute. On this occasion, the victim was driving away from her home when the woman threw a baseball bat at the victim’s vehicle, damaging the windshield.
The 36-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with mischief. She was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of July 17, 2023.
Man Arrested for Using a Stolen Credit Card CK23030056
At 2:50 p.m., an officer located the man on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg while on general patrol. The officer knew the man from previous interactions.
Police confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant concerning a fraud investigation from April 6, 2023.
The 25-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and charged with possessing stolen property and using a stolen credit card. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK23030146
At 11:30 p.m., police responded to Wellington Street in Wallaceburg for a well-being check. Information was received a man was slumped over in a vehicle with the doors open.
Police arrived on the scene and found the man asleep in the driver’s seat of his vehicle. The officer believed the man was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.
The 29-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released with conditions and a future court date of June 26, 2023. His vehicle was towed.
