Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 175 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested and two were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Weapons Offences CK24031119
At 8:07 a.m., police responded to Duke Street in Chatham for a weapons investigation.
Officers learned the man confronted the victim about blowing smoke out of her car window as she passed him on the street. The man was brandishing a flip knife in his hand during the confrontation. Officers located the man and learned he was bound by a release order prohibiting him from possessing a weapon.
The 60-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with a release order.
As a result, he was remanded into custody, transported to Southwestern Regional Detention Centre, until his next court appearance on July 9, 2024.
Woman Arrested on Outstanding Warrants CK24031127
At 8:41 a.m., the woman attended Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and turned herself in to the police. The woman was wanted on several outstanding warrants for failing to attend court in relation to several investigations, including theft, bail violations, and an assault investigation.
The 25-year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested and held pending a bail hearing. She faced the following charges: theft, possession of stolen property, resist arrest, uttering threats, assault causing bodily harm, failing to comply with an appearance notice and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
As a result, she was released by the court with conditions and a future court date of July 15, 2024.
Man Arrested for Assault CK24031275
At 1:21 p.m., police responded to Westcourt Boulevard in Wallaceburg for an assault investigation.
Officers learned an altercation occurred between the man and the woman resulting in the man assaulting the woman. Officers also learned the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for an April 2023 fraud investigation.
The 45-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a future court date of August 12, 2024. He currently is facing the following charges: fraud and two counts of assault.
Man Arrested for Weapons Offences CK24031281
At 2:12 p.m., police located the man on Delaware Avenue in Chatham. Officers confirmed he was wanted on several outstanding warrants and was arrested. Upon a search incident to arrest, several weapons were found in his possession, including an airsoft pistol, knife, and brass knuckles. Suspected cocaine was also found and seized. Officers confirmed the man was bound by several forms of release prohibiting him from possessing any weapons.
The 34-year-old Chatham man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: failing to comply with a release order, failing to comply with a probation order, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a controlled substance and possession of an unauthorized weapon.
Man Arrested for Bail Violations CK24031287
At 3:42 p.m., police located the man while investigating suspicious activity at a business on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.
Officers confirmed the man had been released by the court with a condition, including a curfew and weapons prohibitions. The man was arrested for breaching his curfew condition. Upon a search incident to arrest he was found in possession of a folding knife.
The 44-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: careless storage of a firearm, possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition, two counts of failing to attend court, two counts of failing to comply with a release order and three counts of possession of a firearm/ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.
