Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 165 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Fourteen people were arrested, and seven were on outstanding warrants.
Woman Arrested for Probation Violations CK24034413
At 7:02 a.m., the woman was located on Grand Avenue East in Chatham. The woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant for probation violations.
The 30-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she was released with conditions and a future court date of August 19, 2024. She is currently facing the following charges: failing to comply with a probation order.
Man Arrested for Possession of Stolen Property CK24034451
In June 2023 police began investigating an abandoned vehicle that had been stored in a garage on Coatsworth Avenue in Chatham.
Through investigation, officers identified the man who had parked the vehicle at the location and confirmed it had been reported stolen to Lasalle Police on September 3, 2017. When the man could not be located a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On July 22, 2024, at 11:36 a.m., the man attended Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and turned himself in to the police. The man was charged with possession of stolen property over $5000. He was held pending a bail hearing.
As a result, he was released by the court with conditions and a future court date of August 16, 2024.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK24034541
At 8:07 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle travelling through a red light at the intersection of Grand Avenue East and St. Clair Street in Chatham.
The officer conducted a traffic stop and believed the man driving to be under the influence of alcohol. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.
The 24-year of Chatham-Kent was charged with impaired driving and having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. The man was also issued summons for offences under the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. He was released with conditions and a future court date of August 12, 2024.
Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK24034551
At 11:32 p.m., police attended a residence on Westcourt Boulevard for a 911 hang up call.
Upon arrival, officer located the man and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to several criminal offences.
The 41-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: mischief under $5000, break-and-enter, and two counts of failing to attend court.
Man Arrested for Break-and-Enter CK24034568
On July 23, 2024, at 4:07 a.m., police responded to a residence on Baldoon Road in Chatham for a break-and-enter.
Officers learned the homeowner found a man, unknown to them, in the kitchen when they returned inside from being on the front porch. The man left the home without incident.
The man was located a short distance away and was arrested.
The 19-year-old Chatham man was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of August 26, 2024. He has been charged with break-and-enter.
