Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 116 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested, and two were on outstanding warrants.
Two Men Arrested for Robbery CK24003019
At 6:36 a.m., police responded to a residence on Wellington Street West in Chatham for a robbery investigation.
Through investigation, police learned the victims returned to the apartment after spending a night out. Shortly after their return, the two men arrived. The two men and the victims are known to each other and had spent the evening together. The two men arrived with firearms and demanded money and other valuable items. The two men left with the items.
The two men were located on O’Neil Street in Chatham and arrested.
The 21-year-old and the 23-year-old Chatham men were charged with break and enter with the intent to commit robbery, pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a dangerous weapon. They were transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
As a result of the bail hearing, both men were remanded into custody and transported to the Southwest Regional Detention Center. Their next court appearance has been scheduled for January 22, 2024.
Man Charged with Mischief CK24003063
At 1.36 p.m., police responded to the Chatham-Kent Public Library on Queen Street South in Chatham for a mischief investigation.
Officers learned the man threw a rock through a window. The man was located and believed to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance.
The 32-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and charged with mischief. He was transported to police headquarters, held until he was sober and released with conditions and a future court date of March 4, 2024.
Woman Arrested for Failing to Comply CK24003101
At 6:11 p.m., police responded to Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg for a disturbance. A man and woman were engaged in a heated argument.
The officer arrived in the area and located the couple. The woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
The 60-year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters. She was held pending a bail hearing. The woman is currently facing the following charges: break and enter, possession of stolen property, mischief, failing to comply with a release order and two counts of failing to comply with undertaking.
Man Arrested on a Bench Warrant CK24003108
On July 26, 2023, police responded to Fifth Street in Chatham for a threat investigation. The man was arrested and charged. He was released with conditions and a future court date of August 28, 2024. When the man failed to make the court appearance, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
On January 21, 2024, at 8:15 p.m., police located the man on Fifth Street and arrested him.
The 54-year-old Chatham man was released with a new court date of February 26, 2024. He faces the following charges: two counts of uttering threats.
Man Arrested for CK24003114
At 9:08 p.m., an officer on general patrol located the man on Wellington Street West in Chatham.
The officer confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.
The 39-year-old Chatham man was released with a new court date of February 26, 2024. He faces the following charges: mischief, aggravated assault and failing to comply with an appearance notice.
