Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 143 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Ten people were arrested, and three were on outstanding warrants.
Man arrested for Impaired Driving CK23062353.
On December 6, 2023, at 4:20 a.m., police responded to a vehicle stuck on the railway tracks on Middle Line in Harwich Township.
Officers arrived on the scene. The vehicle was located approximately 50 feet down the tracks. The officers believed the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests. The vehicle was removed from the railway tracks by a local towing company.
The 31-year-old Chatham man was charged with having a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit. He was released with conditions and a future court date of December 18, 2023.
Woman Arrested for Causing a Disturbance CK23062365
On December 6, 2023, in the early morning, the Chatham-Kent Police Communication Centre received several 911 calls from the woman, who also used the CKPS HQ lobby phone to contact dispatch. These calls were not for emergencies, and the woman behaved aggressively towards the dispatchers. Despite being advised to stop calling, the woman left CKPS HQ and went to a Tim Hortons on Third Street in Chatham, where she made additional calls to dispatch. She continued to yell and scream, disrupting the restaurant. Staff members at Tim Hortons eventually contacted CKPS to have the woman removed from the property.
At 5:40 a.m., police responded to Tim Hortons and arrested the woman. She was transported to police headquarters.
The 48-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was charged with public mischief and causing a disturbance. She was released with conditions and a future court date of January 15, 2024.
Woman Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK23062413
At 1:16 p.m., police responded to Arnold Street in Wallaceburg for an intimate partner violence investigation.
The officer learned the man and the woman engaged in a verbal argument. The argument escalated when the woman assaulted the man, resulting in a visible facial injury.
The 37- year-old Wallaceburg woman was charged with assault. She was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of January 15, 2024.

At 1:39 p.m., police responded to Orchard Heights Drive in Chatham for an assault investigation.
Through investigation, the officer learned the man and his landlord were in a verbal argument. The argument turned physical when the man elbowed the landlord in the face, causing minor injury.
The 57-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of January 15, 2024.

At 2:12 p.m., police responded to Wellington Street East in Chatham for a noise complaint.
Upon arrival, officers located the noise source and confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant from a November 12, 2023, theft investigation. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters.
The 22-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft and possession. He was released with conditions and a future court date of January 15, 2024.

At 3:09 p.m., police responded to Shoppers Drug Mart on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg for a theft investigation.
Surveillance video captured the woman entering the store, removing merchandise from the shelves and leaving without paying. Officers located the woman a short distance away with the stolen items and arrested her.
The 25-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was charged with theft and possession of stolen property. She was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of January 15, 2024.

On December 7, 2023, at 2:02 a.m., police responded to Duke Street in Wallaceburg for an impaired driving investigation. Information was received the vehicle was driving erratically.
The officer located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The officer believed the man driving was under the influence of alcohol, and he was arrested. The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.
