Man Arrested After Break and Enter

On 2023-04-08 Police were dispatched to an active Break and Enter in Ridgetown. The owner of a business was observing a masked male suspect inside his store. Police responded with multiple units and found the suspect had fled. Police were able to contain a search area and deploy an unmanned aerial vehicle equipped with thermal vision. A 43 year old Chatham-Kent man was located and arrested for Break and Enter, Theft, Possession of Stolen Property and Disguise with Intent. The suspect was wanted for failing to attend court and was breaching a curfew condition from a previous bail condition at the time of this arrest. He was held pending a bail hearing.
Woman Arrested for Impaired Driving

On 2023-04-08 Police responded to a possible impaired driver in Chatham. The suspect was located and failed to stop for Police; maintaining speeds between 15km/h and 35km/h. A low speed pursuit was engaged as there was evidence the driver was impaired. Officers were able to perform a successful tandem stop maneuver, safely bringing the suspect to a stop. A 27 year old woman was identified as the driver and arrested. The accused was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters.
A Drug Recognition Expert determined the accused to be intoxicated by drug. During the procedure the accused refused to comply with a lawful demand by the Drug Recognition Officer and was charged with Refusal to Comply with Demand and Operation While Impaired. The accused’s motor vehicle was impounded and the accused had their driver’s license suspended. The accused was released when sober with a future court date.
