The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 165 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested.
Man Charged with Breaching his Probation Order CK19047107
On October 24, 2018 the man entered a Probation Order with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to obey a daily curfew of 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
On Sunday night just before 10:00 p.m. police conducted a compliance check and learned that the man was not at the address provided to police, nor did he comply with his curfew on Saturday night.
Yesterday afternoon, police located the man on King Street in Chatham and he was arrested. The 29-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of breaching his Probation Order. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Failing to Sign in CK19047075
On August 14, 2019 the man was released from Court with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to attend police headquarters every Friday to sign in.
Since his release, the man has failed to sign in on any Friday. Yesterday afternoon, police located the man on Emma Street in Chatham and he was arrested. The 23-year-old man of no fixed address was charged and transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrants CK19047105
Yesterday afternoon, a man wanted for obstructing police, breaching a Court Order, theft under $5000 and failing to attend court was arrested in Windsor.
The 30-year-old man was transported back to Chatham-Kent for court purposes. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK19047138
The man is currently bound by two separate release conditions stating that he is to notify police in writing within 24 hours of any change in address.
Last week, police attended the last known address on file for the man to conduct a compliance check. At this time, police learned that the man was no longer living at this residence.
Last night, an officer on general patrol observed the man walking on Duke Street in Wallaceburg. The 35-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Woman Disobeys Curfew CK19047183
On July 29, 2019 the woman was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that she was to obey a daily curfew of 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Just before 1:00 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol observed the woman riding a bicycle with no light on King Street East in Chatham. The officer initiated a traffic stop for this infraction and learned that the woman was out past her curfew.
The 30-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Youth Charged with Assault CK19047064
Yesterday morning, police responded to a fight between two female students at Wallaceburg District Secondary School.
A 14-year-old Walpole Island teen was arrested and charged with assault. She was released pending a future court date of September 23, 2019.
Man Charged with Drug Possession CK19046543
Last Friday afternoon, police responded to the report of a suspicious person sitting in a vehicle in a parking lot on Thames Street in Chatham. Through investigation, the man was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and heroin.
Matthew Watson, 30 years, of Stonemason Crescent in Mississauga was arrested and charged with two counts of drug possession. He was released pending a future court date of September 26, 2019.
Motor Vehicle Collision CK19047034
Yesterday morning around 7:00 a.m. a concerned citizen called police to report a van trailering a boat was in the ditch on Port Road in between Cox Line and Gray Line. As officers attempted to locate the registered owner, a tow truck was observed leaving the area with the van and boat. Officers initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver.
The 34-year-old Leamington man was charged with failing to report the accident.
Total damage was estimated at $2000.
Break and Enter in Chatham CK19047179
Sometime last night between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. unknown suspect(s) entered an apartment on Lorne Avenue and stole video surveillance equipment, cash and a pair of Air Jordan running shoes.
