Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 148 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested, and three were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK23064336
At 7:22 a.m., police responded to Colborne Street in Chatham and located the man.
Officers confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court. The man was required to attend court because of a September 2, 2023, investigation where he was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a controlled substance.
The 44-year-old Chatham man was released with a new court date of January 22, 2024.
Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK23064374
At 11:58 a.m., police attended the Sarnia Jail to escort the man back to Chatham-Kent police headquarters.
The man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court after being charged in a June 25, 2021, assault investigation.
The 38-year-old Walpole Island man currently faces the following charges: mischief, assault with a weapon, robbery, failing to attend court and two counts of failing to comply with an appearance notice. He was held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Threats CK23064398
On December 18, 2023, at 2:57 p.m., police responded to the Bank of Montreal on St. Clair Street in Chatham for a threat investigation.
Officers arrived and learned the man approached a Customer Service Representative requesting a new bank card. When asked for identification, the man became upset and commented on harming the representative and damaging the bank. The man was still on the scene and was arrested.
The 31-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with uttering threats. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK23064401
At 3:07 p.m., the man attended the Ontario Court of Justice on Grand Avenue in Chatham. Officers arrested the man on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court on September 25, 2023.
The 18-year-old Chatham man currently faces the following charges: luring a person under 18 years of age, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, assault causing bodily harm and failing to attend court. The man was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Being Unlawful in a Dwelling CK23064406
At 3:55 p.m., police responded to a home on King Street East in Chatham for a family dispute.
The victim returned home to find the man, a relative, asleep in her bed and the home in disarray. The victim directed the man to leave. He eventually left the home and police were notified.
Police located and arrested the man walking on King Street East.
The 28-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with being unlawful in a dwelling. He was released with conditions and a future court date of January 22, 2024.
