The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 150 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested.
Arson Erie Street North Wheatley CK24007251
The Chatham-Kent Fire and Police were dispatched to an apartment building on Erie Street North Wheatley. Chatham-Kent Fire were able to put out a fire and contained it to a single unit. Several tenants from other units were evacuated due to the smoke in the building. Through investigation it was found the fire was intentionally set. A man was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Headquarters and held for bail. There were damages to the unit from the fire, smoke and water. The Chatham-Kent Police and Chatham-Kent Fire Department are currently investigating this fire.
Mischief/threats/assault police McNaughton Ave Wallaceburg CK24007245
A man and woman were at a local INN and caused damages to their room and hallway. The two were located at a local restaurant where they were involved in a disturbance. During this disturbance the staff were threatened. Both individuals were arrested. During the arrest the woman assault one of the Police Officers. The man and woman were transported to Chatham-Kent Headquarters and held until sober and to be released.
The man was charged with Mischief under $5000, Fail to comply probation and utter threats bodily harm
The woman was charged with Mischief under $5000 and Assault police officer.
Cause disturbance, Resist Police officer -Fail to appear warrant King St west , Chatham CK24007254
A man was observed on King street West Chatham attempting to enter vehicles. The man then continued on King street and started to yell and scream at people walking in the area. The man was arrested for causing a disturbance and resisted the Police Officers. It was found that the man had Fail to appear on previous charges. The man was transported to Chatham-Kent Headquarters and held for bail.
