Chatham-Kent, ON – During August 2024, the Municipality of Chatham-Kent experienced a significant increase in commercial break and enters. These incidents exhibited a similar modus operandi.
In response, the Chatham-Kent Police Service launched a break-in initiative that emphasized collaborative between Community Patrol and the Intelligence Unit. An extensive investigation was conducted, incorporating video surveillance analysis, witness interviews, and various other investigative techniques, resulting in the identification of one individual as a primary suspect in these crimes.
On August 31, 2024, Jamie Moore, 43, of Chatham-Kent, was located and arrested. He was subsequently transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. Following the hearing, he was remanded into custody and transported to the Southwest Regional Detention Centre. He has been charged with eleven counts of break and enter, nine counts of possession of stolen property, and possession of a controlled substance.
Mr. Moore is scheduled to appear in court via video on September 13, 2024. The investigation into the other unidentified suspects continues.
