Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 169 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested and two were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Fraud CK24009003
In October 2019, police began a fraud investigation after receiving information the man was falsifying employment records. Through investigation, the investigating officer formed grounds to arrest and charge the man. After several unsuccessful attempts to locate him, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On February 28, 2024, the man was arrested by the Ontario Provincial Police – Leamington.
The 27-year-old Pain Court man was arrested and charged with fraud under $5000, and five counts of falsifying employee records. He was released with conditions and a future court date of April 5, 2024.
Man Arrested for Break and Enter CK24009009
On January 2, 2024, police responded to a break and enter at a business on Talbot Trail in Harwich Township, where a pick-up truck had been stolen. Later that day, the pick-up truck was recovered on King Street in Chatham. Through investigation, officers identified the man involved and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On February 9, 2024, a probation warrant was issued for his arrest.
On February 28, 2024, at 1:38 p.m., police located the man on Grand Avenue West in Chatham and arrested him.
The 42-year-old Chatham man was charged with break and enter, possession of a stolen property and failing to comply with a probation order. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK24009059
At 5:51 p.m., police received information a pick-up truck, travelling eastbound on Bluewater Line in Wallaceburg, was driving erratically. It was reported the vehicle was driving in the middle of the roadway and drastically changing speed. The vehicle was last reported parked in the middle of the road.
Officers quickly responded to the area and located the vehicle. Officers believed the man driving was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him. The man was transported to police headquarters for tests.
The 55-year-old Chatham Township man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit. He was released with conditions and a future court date of March 18, 2024.
Man Arrested for Facilitating a Breach CK24008930/CK24009088
On February 27, 2024, police responded to Longwoods Road in Chatham for an assault investigation.
Through investigation, officers learned a verbal argument between the man and the woman escalated to a physical altercation. The woman left the address prior to police arrival.
Further investigation revealed that on November 28, 2023, the court released the woman with conditions prohibiting her from associating with the man. Officers learned the man was allowing the woman to continue living with him.
The 27-year-old man was arrested and charged with facilitating a breach of a release order. He was released with a future court date of April 8, 2024.
