Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 106 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested, and four were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Bail Violation CK24000943
On August 25, 2023, the court released the man with conditions prohibiting him from being outside his residence between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. without his surety.
On September 13, 2023, officers conducted a compliance check on the man and found him breaching this condition. A warrant was issued for his arrest when he could not be located.
On January 7, 2024, at 6:57 a.m., police responded to a residence on Ingram Street in Chatham for an unrelated matter and located the man.
The 39-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was charged with failing to comply with a release order and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Uttering Threats CK24000945
On December 13, 2023, at 10:01 p.m., police began a threat investigation in Chatham.
Through investigation, the officer discovered the man had entered a residential building on Fifth Street where he did not live and had been approached by the victim. The man made several comments threatening the victim. With the assistance of surveillance footage, the man was identified. A warrant was issued for his arrest when he could not be located.
On January 7, 2024, the man was located on King Street East in Chatham and arrested.
The 41-year-old Chatham man was charged with two counts of uttering threats. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of February 12, 2024.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK24001005
At 5:48 p.m., police received information on a vehicle driving erratically on Longwoods Road in Chatham Township.
Officers attended the area and located the vehicle on McNaughton Avenue in Chatham. Officers made observations similar to the reporter’s and conducted a traffic stop.
Officers believe the man was driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance and conducted a Standard Field Sobriety Test. Based on the results, the man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for further tests.
The 39-year-old Chatham man was charged for impaired driving and released with conditions and a future court date of January 22, 2024.
Man Arrested on a Warrant CK24001022
At 9:32 p.m., Walpole Island Police Service located and arrested the man on an outstanding bench warrant for failing to attend court.
The 34-year-old Walpole Island man was issued a new court date of February 5, 2024, and released.
Man Arrested on a Warrant CK24001046
On January 8, 2024, at 4:23 a.m. Windsor Police Service located and arrested the man on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court. Chatham-Kent Police officers attended and continued the arrest.
The 37-year-old Chatham-Kent man was released with a new court date.
Animal Remains were found in Chatham CK24000974.
On January 7, 2024, at 2:03 p.m., police responded to Lorne Avenue in Chatham, where bones were unearthed under a porch.
The remains were photographed and sent to an Anthropologist, who determined them to be animal remains.
