Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 151 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested, and four were on outstanding warrants.
Woman Arrested for Theft of a Motor Vehicle CK23061365
On October 27, 2023, at 10:30 p.m., the woman attempted to steal a motor vehicle from a Gosnell Line home in Howard Township. The theft was interrupted when the car stalled and the owners intervened, preventing the theft. The woman fled the property before police arrived. Consequently, a warrant was issued for her arrest when she was not located.
On November 29, 2023, at 3:16 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle collision at Grand Avenue West and Courthouse Lane in Chatham. Officers confirmed the woman involved was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
The 18-year-old Erieau woman was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle and trespassing by night. She was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of January 15, 2023. She was also issued a Provincial Offences Notice for careless driving.
Woman Arrested for Breaching a Release Order CK23061408
On November 29, 2023, at 8:53 p.m., police responded to an address on Colborne Street in Chatham for a family dispute. The woman was located, and officers learned that on July 17, 2023, the courts released the woman with conditions which prohibited her from having any contact with named individuals and attending within a specific distance of any place they are known to be, including their Colborne Street home.
The 40-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order. She was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK23061415
At 10:04 p.m., police responded to an apartment on Trillium Village in Chatham for a disturbance.
Officers learned the man sat on the woman and proceeded to choke her. The assault was interrupted by the woman’s roommate, preventing further harm.
The 51-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of December 18, 2023.
Youth Arrested for Assault CK23061417
On November 28, 2023, at 1:12 p.m., police responded to the Chatham-Kent Secondary School on McNaughton Avenue East in Chatham for an assault investigation.
Through investigation, police learned the youth followed the victim and attacked her without provocation. The attack continued until bystanders intervened. The victim sought medical attention for her injuries.
On November 29, 2023, at 10:21 p.m., The 14-year-old Chatham youth turned herself in to the police. She has been charged with assault. She was released to a parent with conditions and a future court date.
Woman Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK23061394
At 7:33 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Thomas Avenue in Wallaceburg.
Upon arrival, officers located the woman and confirmed she was wanted on several warrants for theft and failing to attend court. She was arrested and transported to police headquarters.
The 26-year-old Wallaceburg woman has been charged with theft and four counts of failing to attend court. She was held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Failing to Comply with Court Orders CK23061432
On November 30, 2023, at 12:15 a.m., police conducted a property check at the bandshell at Tecumseh Park in Chatham and located the man.
Upon further investigation, officers confirmed he was wanted on several outstanding warrants, and he was arrested. The man is registered under the Sex Offender Registry and is obligated to report annually to the Police Service as per the Sex Offender Registry Act and Christopher’s Law. When he failed to do so in October 2023 a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The 29-year-old Chatham-Kent man has been charged with failing to comply with a probation order, failing to comply with a court order and failing to report under Christopher’s Law. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
