Chatham-Kent: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 136 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested, and four were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Drug Trafficking CK23060283
At 11:57 a.m., members of the general patrol executed a search warrant at a residence on Taylor Avenue in Chatham in relation to a harassment investigation.
As a result, officers seized methamphetamine, cocaine, psilocybin, digital scales, and a significant amount of Canadian currency.
Thomas Evans, 45 years of Chatham, has been charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. He was transported to police headquarters. He was released with conditions and a future court date of January 24, 2024.
Man Arrested for Theft CK23060301
On July 1, 2023, police responded to a theft investigation at Shoppers Drug Mart on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned the man had entered the store, removed merchandise from the shelves, and exited without paying. Officers were provided with surveillance images of the man and the vehicle he was seen driving. Officers discovered the license plates on the vehicle were reported stolen from Windsor on June 20, 2023.
The man was identified with the public’s assistance through a media release, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On November 22, 2023, the Essex Ontario Provincial Police arrested the man in Windsor and turned him over to the Chatham-Kent Police Service in Tilbury.
The 33-year-old Windsor man has been charged with theft and two counts of possession of stolen property. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of January 24, 2023,
Man Arrested for Disobeying a Court Order CK23060367
On April 6, 2023, at 7:39 p.m., police responded to an apartment on Mary Street in Chatham for a disturbance.
Through investigation, officers learned the man attended the residence despite being bound by a peace bond prohibiting him from associating with the occupant and attending the address. After unsuccessful attempts to locate the man, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On November 22, 2023, at 11:21 p.m., the man attended Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and turned himself into the police.
The 48-year-old Chatham-Kent man has been charged with break and enter and two counts of disobeying a court order. He has been held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Assault CK23060368
At midnight on November 23, 2023, police responded to a family dispute on Hall Street North in Blenheim.
Upon arrival, officers were informed that the man had assaulted his sister without provocation on two separate occasions earlier in the evening. Officers took the man into custody and transported him to headquarters.
The 28-year-old Blenheim man has been charged with two counts of assault. He has been held pending a bail hearing.
