The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 179 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Nine people were arrested, and four were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK23042462
In June 2022, police arrested the man in relation to a break-and-enter that occurred on Murray Street in Wallaceburg. The man was released with conditions and a court date. When the man failed to attend the scheduled court date, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On August 14, 2023, at 7:51 p.m., the man was located on Albert Street and arrested.
The 33-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with failing to attend court. He was released with a future court date of September 11, 2023.
Youth Arrested for Assault CK23042470
At 8:49 p.m., police responded to an address on Angler Line in Dover Township for an assault investigation.
Police learned the youth began threatening to cause harm and became assaultive towards others during an argument.
The 16-year-old Chatham youth was charged with two counts of assault and four counts of uttering threats. They were transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of September 18, 2023.
Man Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK23042478
At 10:05 p.m., police responded to Thames Street in Chatham for a domestic disturbance.
Upon arrival, police learned the man was angry when he arrived home. He began throwing items and slamming doors when asked why he felt that way. The situation escalated when the man struck the victim in the face.
The 31-year-old Chatham man was located on Simcoe Lane and arrested. He was charged with assault and transported to police headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a court date of September 18, 2023
Man Arrested for Assault CK23042515
On August 15, 2023, at 4:16 a.m., police were alerted to a car stopped at a traffic light for approximately 30 minutes at the intersection of Wellington Street West and Fifth Street in Chatham.
Police arrived and found the man asleep behind the wheel with his foot on the brake and the vehicle in drive. The man was arrested for impaired driving and transported to police headquarters for further tests. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Officers also learned the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for a January 2023 assault investigation. Upon a search incident to arrest, the man was found possessing suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine.
The 53-year-old Chatham Township man was charged with assault and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. He was released with conditions and a future court date of September 18, 2023.
