The Chatham-Kent Police responded to 167 calls for service in the last 24 hours.
Chatham man charged with Impaired Driving CK17021182
On June 16 Chatham Kent Police observed a vehicle being driven by a male known to be a prohibited driver. The vehicle was stopped and the male was arrested for Drive Disqualified. The man had previously been released on a Recognizance for Driving Disqualified, with conditions stating he was not to be seated in the driver’s seat of any motor vehicle and not operate or have care and control of a motor vehicle. The male currently has a lifetime driving prohibition.
Through investigation, the officer believed that the man was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested for impaired driving and transported to police headquarters for further breath tests. The tests resulted in the man being charged with having a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit.
When all investigation was complete the man was charged with Drive while Disqualified, Impaired Driving, Driving while BAC over .80 and Breach of Recognizance. He was held for a bail hearing.
Chatham man charged with Assault with a Weapon and Utter Threats.
On June 16 a Chatham man was visiting with relatives in Wallaceburg when an argument ensued over a theft between brothers which resulted in some pushing, shoving and damaging each other’s property.
Police were notified and through investigation learned that the man had made threats with a knife during a previous altercation. The male was located and arrested, transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters where he was released with a future court date.
