Human Remains Uncovered on Grand River Line in Dover Township CK24001545
Chatham-Kent, Ontario: on January 11, 2024, at 9:49 a.m. police attend Grand River Line, between Winterline Road and Crow Road, in Dover Township after being alerted by an excavating company they had uncovered human remains (bones).
Officers attended and secured the scene. The Chatham-Kent Police Service Forensic Unit were also called in to obtain images and collect the bones. All evidence has been forwarded to the Office of the Chief Coroner for further forensic examination.
Preliminary examination suggests the bones were deposited many years ago, indicating they are of historical nature.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to assure the public there is no concern for public safety related to this discovery.
The matter has been turned over to the Office of the Chief Coroner.
