The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 181 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested, and six people were arrested on outstanding warrants.
Woman Arrested for Possession of Stolen Vehicle CK23050800
On Wednesday September 27th, 2023, at approximately 12:31 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg when the officer’s Automatic License Plate Reader detected a plate that was reported stolen to police on Saturday September 9th, 2023.
Through investigation, the officer also learned the accused driver’s licence was suspended and the vehicle was not insured.
The 29-year-old Wallaceburg female was arrested and charged with Possession of property obtained by crime – Over $5000.00, Driving while under suspension, and Owner operate motor vehicle on a highway – no insurance. The accused was later released with conditions and a future court date of November 9th, 2023.
Youth Arrested for Assault CK23050868
On Wednesday September 27th, 2023, at approximately 7:22 p.m., police responded to John Street West, in the town of Blenheim for a disturbance and assault investigation.
Through investigation, police learned a group of youth were playing “nicky nicky nine door” when they were confronted by the victim, the accused jumped the victim and assaulted him. During the assault the youth dropped and left behind their book-bag, which was picked up by a party attempting to help the victim. The accused then later attended the women’s home, demanding the book-bag be returned and threatened the woman and her family.
The 15-year-old Blenheim youth was later located, arrested and charged with one count of Disguise with Intent, Assault, and Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm. He was released with a future court date of November 6th, 2023.
Woman arrested on Warrants CK23050922
On June 9th, 2023, the accused was located and arrested for a previous Fail to Attend Court. At that time the accused was issued a future court date, which she later failed to attend and appear for; subsequently, resulting in a warrant for her arrest.
On Wednesday September 27th, 2023, the accused was located by police and arrested on all outstanding warrants.
The 28-year-old Wallaceburg woman was later released with a future court date of October 30th, 2023.
