The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 210 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested, and two people were arrested on outstanding warrants.
Male arrested for Breach of Peace CK23050574
Last night at approximately 9:50 p.m., police responded to Victoria Avenue in the city of Chatham, in regard to a domestic disturbance.
Police learned the man and the woman were verbally arguing, when the situation escalated, and the female became fearful of the man. In an attempt to deescalate the situation, the man had left the residence prior to police arrival.
Police were later called to re-attend the residence in regard to a continuation of the previous disturbance, upon arrival police spoke with the male who agreed to leave the residence for the night and remain at an alternative accommodation.
At approximately 2:00 a.m., police were called to attend again, as the male had reattended the residence and was creating another disturbance.
Upon arrival, Police located the male, the 30-year-old Chatham man was arrested for Breach of Peace and transported to police headquarters where he was later released.
Parties arrested for Domestic related incident CK23050422
At approximately 10:26 a.m., police responded to the area of Old Glass Road, near Wallaceburg in regard to a domestic related incident.
Police were advised by a concerned citizen they had observed the male party grabbing the female party by her neck, the parties then continued onto another location. As a result, the Ontario Provincial Police and Chatham-Kent Police Service assisted each other in the investigation.
While attempting to conduct their investigation, the female party continued to interfere with police and subsequently was arrested.
The 36-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested by the OPP for one count of Assault, while the 37-year-old Wallaceburg female was arrested by Chatham-Kent Police Service for one count of Obstruct Police, she was later released with a future court date of October 23rd, 2023.
Man arrested for Mischief CK3050518
Last night at approximately 6:40 p.m., police were called to the area Wellington Street West, in the city of Chatham in regard to a disturbance.
Prior to arrival, police were advised by a concerned citizen they could hear yelling and a window smashing.
Through investigation, police learned the accused attended the male’s residence upset, a verbal argument transpired and quickly escalated when the accused punched the window, breaking the glass.
The 24-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with one count of Mischief Under $5,000.00. She was released with conditions and a future court date of October 30th, 2023.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK23050576
On Tuesday September 26th, 2023, at approximately 2:37 a.m., an officer was approached by a vehicle who advised there was a male, possibly impaired, getting into a vehicle parked in front of Circle K Convenience, located at 170 McNaughton Avenue West in the city of Chatham.
The officer attended the area and located the vehicle, which was observed to be parked sideways across 2 spots. After speaking with the driver and through investigation, the officer determined the driver, and the lone occupant of the vehicle was under the influence of alcohol. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.
The 43-year-old Chatham man was charged with one count of Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and one count of Operation While Impaired – Having a Blood Alcohol Concentration Exceeding the Legal Limit. The man was later released with conditions and a future court date of October 16th, 2023.
