Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 161 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested and three were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Bail Violation CK24046038
At 12:03 p.m., police located the man on Murray Street in Wallaceburg and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant. The warrant was in relation to several 2024 investigations.
The 41-year-old Chatham man was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. As a result of the hearing, he was remanded into custody until his next court appearance on September 19, 2024. He currently faces the following charges: failing to attend court, uttering threats, assault with a weapon, assault, assault causing bodily harm, two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking, two counts of failing to comply with a probation order, three counts of mischief, six counts of possession of stolen property, and six counts of theft.
He was transported to Southwest Regional Detention Centre.
Man Arrested for Uttering Threats CK24046074
On September 10, 2024, at 10:09 a.m., police began a threats investigation in Chatham.
Officers learned the man was making threating remarks to the victim via Facebook. Further investigation revealed the man was bound by a probation order requiring him to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
At 3:49 p.m., police located the man on Lacroix Street in Chatham and arrested him. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: uttering threats and failing to comply with a probation order.
Woman Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK24046094
At 5:14 p.m., police responded to suspicious activity and located the woman on Wellington Street East in Chatham. The officer confirmed she was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to several investigations.
The 34-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she was held pending a bail hearing. She is currently facing the following charges: mischief, possession of a controlled substance, two counts of theft, two counts of possession of stolen property, two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of failing to attend court.
Man Arrested for Assault CK24046141
At 10:57 p.m., police responded to Thornhill Crescent in Chatham for an assault investigation.
Upon arrival officers located the man in the garage, yelling and destroying property. The man threatened the officers and charged at them. A conducted energy weapon was successfully utilized, and the man was taken into custody.
Further investigation revealed prior to police arrival the man engaged in a verbal argument with his 17-year-old daughter. The altercation escalated when he assaulted her as she attempted to remove herself from the situation.
The 49-year-old Chatham man was transported to police headquarters, where he was held until he was sober. He was subsequently released with conditions and a future court date of October 28, 2024. He has been charged with assault and assault a peace officer.
