The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 188 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eleven people were arrested, and four were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Failing to Comply following domestic related charges CK23048288
Earlier this year, in July 2023, a 38-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested for criminal harassment and uttering threats against his victim. Subsequently the accused was arrested and released on conditions not to communicate with the victim of this matter.
On Wednesday September 14th, 2023, at approximately 11:30 am, police responded to a residence in Chatham for reports the accused was contacting the victim.
Upon arrival, police learned the accused had contacted the victim multiple times by way of email and voicemails.
The 38-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with two counts of Failing to comply with Undertaking. The accused was transported to police headquarters and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Sexual Assault CK23044851
On August 26, 2023, Police began a sexual assault investigation that occurred between January 2023 and August 2023.
The 33-year-old Blenheim man was arrested for one count of sexual assault and one count of sexual interference.
Through investigation, Police learned the accused in this matter is also wanted for similar related offences by London Police Service.
The accused was transported to police headquarters and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving following Motor Vehicle Collision with School Bus CK23048348
Yesterday at approximately 5:55 p.m., Police were contacted in regard to a motor vehicle collision involving a quad striking a school bus.
Officers arrived on the scene and believed the man driving the quad was under the influence of alcohol. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.
The occupants on the bus did not experience any injuries and only minor damages to the school bus were reported.
The 23-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with one count of Operation while Impaired and one count of Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. The accused was held and later released with conditions and a future court date of September 25, 2023.
