The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 177 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Six people were arrested, and two were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Theft CK23047949
On August 28, 2023, at approximately 6:43 a.m., a male suspect entered the Circle K on Queen Street North in Tilbury. The suspect demanded money and lottery tickets from the employee, but when the employee refused to comply, the suspect took two trays of lottery tickets from the counter and left the store.
Through collaboration with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, it was discovered that several winning tickets were traced back to a different vendor. An image of the man taken from surveillance footage was released to the public for assistance and was identified. After unsuccessful attempts to locate the man, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On September 11, 2023, the 37-year-old Tilbury man turned himself in to the police. He was charged with wearing a disguise with the intent to commit theft, theft, and possession of stolen property. He was released with conditions and a future court date of October 23, 2023.
Man Arrested for Failing to Attend Court CK23047984
At 4:40 p.m., the man attended Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and turned himself in to the police.
The man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in relation to an impaired driving investigation.
The 25-year-old Leamington man was arrested and released with a future court date.
Man Arrested for Bail Violations CK23047986
At 4:51 p.m., police responded to a business on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg. Police received information the man was on the premises despite being trespassed for previous thefts.
Police arrived in the area and located the man a short distance away. Officers confirmed the man was bound by an undertaking with conditions prohibiting him from entering the business and was arrested. Upon arrest, the man possessed approximately $200 worth of merchandise he did not purchase.
The 34-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking, theft, and possession of stolen property. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Man Arrested for Bail Violations CK23048008
On July 11, 2023, the man was arrested and released with conditions prohibiting him from communicating and being within 25m of the victim.
On September 9, 2023, at 5:30 p.m., the man approached the victim and began taking pictures of the victim’s dog. The man continued to call the victim names before driving away from the area.
The 46-year-old Chatham man was located outside his residence and arrested. He was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking and transported to police headquarters. He was held pending a bail hearing.
