Chatham-Kent, Ontario – The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 110 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested, and one were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Drug Offences CK23056400
At 9:44 a.m., emergency crews responded to a fire under the parking lot of a King Street Chatham address, known locally as the cave.
Police arrived on the scene and located a man. Officers observed what appeared to be the handle of a firearm tucked in the man’s waist and initiated a gun-point arrest. The man was cooperative with the police. Upon a search incident to arrest, the man was found in possession of a BB gun and suspected methamphetamine. Both were seized.
The 56-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with possession of a controlled substance. He was released with conditions and a future court date of December 6, 2023.
Woman Arrested for Impaired Driving CK23056440
At 4:16 p.m., police responded to an impaired driving complaint on Joseph Street in Chatham.
The officers arrived in the area, located the vehicle on Phyllis Avenue in Chatham, and conducted a traffic stop. Officers believed the woman driving was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.
The 37-year-old Chatham woman was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. She was released with conditions and a future court date of November 20, 2023. The vehicle was towed.
Man Arrested for Assault CK23056452
At 5:58 p.m., police responded to Timmins Crescent in Chatham for an assault investigation.
Through investigation, officers learned the two men engaged in a verbal argument. The argument escalated when one man grabbed the other man by the throat.
The 58-year-old Chatham Township man was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of November 20, 2023.
Man Arrested for Stolen Vehicle CK23056497
On October 30, 2023, at 2:17 a.m., police were notified of a pickup truck parked in the middle of Bruce Street in Wallaceburg.
Before police arrived, the vehicle was observed leaving. Responding officers were provided information and direction of travel. Officers located the vehicle behind a business on Nelson Avenue and the man a short distance away. Police also confirmed the vehicle was reported stolen, and the man was arrested.
The 39-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with possession of stolen property. He was released with a future court date of December 4, 2023. The vehicle was returned to the owner.
