Chatham-Kent, Ontario – The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 166 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eight people were arrested, and four were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK23055902
At 1:27 p.m., police responded to a dispute on Sudbury Drive in Chatham.
Police learned the victim returned home from doing errands when the man began an argument with her. During the argument, the man called the woman names and shoved her twice before she contacted a friend.
The 35-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of December 4, 2023.

At 4:02 p.m., police responded to Queen Street in Chatham to conduct a well-being check as screams were heard from an apartment.
When the police arrived at the scene, they met a man who was highly intoxicated and behaving aggressively. The officers tried to ensure his safety, but he grabbed a steel pipe and held it in a threatening manner towards them. Despite repeated requests to drop the pipe, the man refused to comply. To safely apprehend him, the officers used a conducted energy weapon. Neither the man nor the officers were injured, and the man was successfully taken into custody.
The 55-year-old Chatham man was charged with assaulting a peace officer and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was transported to police headquarters and lodged until he was sober. He was released with conditions and a future court date of December 04, 2023. sober.
Man Arrested for Intoxicated in Public CK23055988
At 11:02 p.m., police responded to the Blenheim Legion on Catherine Street in Blenheim for a disturbance.
Officers arrived and located a man who had been belligerent with the staff and asked to leave. The man was highly intoxicated, uncooperative, and unable to care for himself.
The 49-year-old Blenheim man was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. He was transported to police headquarters and held under he was sober.
