The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 130 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested, and three were on outstanding warrants.
Youth Arrested for Assault CK23054116
At 3:32 p.m., police responded to Fifth Street for an assault investigation.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a verbal argument between a young woman and the victim escalated when the youth was asked to leave. The youth struck the victim in the face, leaving a minor injury.
The youth was located in a neighbouring unit and arrested.
The 15-year-old Chatham youth was charged with assault. She was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of November 27, 2023.
Woman Arrested for Impaired Driving CK23054154
At 7:19 p.m., an officer on patrol observed the vehicle driving on Wellington Street in Chatham. The vehicle was observed continuously striking the right curb.
The officer conducted a traffic stop and believed the woman was driving while under the influence of alcohol. A roadside breath test was administered. The woman was arrested and transported to the Ontario Provincial Police Detachment for further breath tests.
The 31-year-old Chatham woman was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. She was released with conditions and a future court date of October 30, 2023. The woman was also issued a 90-day license suspension, and her vehicle was towed and placed under a 7-day hold.
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving CK23054167
At 8:28 p.m., emergency crews responded to the Park Avenue and Lacroix Street intersection in Chatham for a motor vehicle collision.
Officers arrived on the scene and determined one vehicle had rear-ended another that was stopped at a red light.
Through investigation, officers believed the man who rear-ended the stopped car was driving while under the influence of alcohol. After receiving medical attention, the man was arrested and administered breath tests.
The 23-year-old Leamington man was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and other provincial offences related to his driving license class. He was released with a future court date of October 30, 2023. The man was also issued a 90-day license suspension, and his vehicle was towed and placed under a 7-day hold.
Man Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK23054186
At 10:05 p.m., police responded to Fraser Street in Wallaceburg for a disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers learned the man had been released on July 11, 2023, by Windsor Police Service with conditions prohibiting him from communicating with the woman he was with. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters.
The 27-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking. He was released with conditions and a future court date of November 20, 2023.
