Chatham-Kent, Ontario – The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 168 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven people were arrested, and four were on outstanding warrants.
Youth arrested for Assault CK23056685
On Monday October 23rd, 2023, police were contacted regarding an assault involving youth in the area of Cecile Street in Chatham. Police learned the youth had been chased by a group of students, knocking the victim to the ground while punching and kicking them repeatedly. The group then chased the victim and proceeded to kick, punch and stomp on them.
On Tuesday October 31st, 2023, the 16-year-old Chatham youth was arrested and charged with one count of Assault cause bodily harm. She was later released with conditions and a future court date of December 11th, 2023.
Traffic stop leads to arrest CK23056706
Yesterday morning at approximately 10:30 a.m., members of CKPS observed a male party known to them driving a motor vehicle while prohibited. A traffic stop was conducted, and the accused was arrested for one count of Driving While Prohibited.
Through further investigation, police conducted a search incident to the arrest and recovered a clear plastic baggie containing approximately 1 ounce of suspected fentanyl.
The 31-year-old Chatham man was arrested for two counts of Operation while Prohibited Under Criminal Code, two counts of Driving Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act, and one count of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. The accused was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
