The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 174 calls for service in the past 24 hours. Six people were arrested, and five were on outstanding warrants.
Man Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK23020963
On April 30, 2023, at 8:30 p.m., police began investigating an assault that occurred earlier that morning at a residence on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.
Through investigation, police learned the man entered his ex-girlfriend’s home without permission to confront her. The two engaged in a verbal argument that escalated when the man struck the woman several times.
The man was bound by conditions not to communicate or be within 100 metres of the woman. He was also wanted for failing to attend court.
On May 1, 2023, at 9:51 a.m., the man was arrested by Windsor Police and transported back to Chatham-Kent.
The 37-year-old Windsor man was charged with failing to attend court, failing to comply with a release order and breaking and entering and committing assault. He was held pending a bail hearing.
Woman Arrested for Assaulting a Police Officer CK23021051
At 6:25 p.m., police responded to Baseline Road for a dispute.
Upon arrival, police learned the woman entered the home and would not leave the residence when directed. When police attempted to arrest the woman, she resisted and kicked the officer several times.
The 26-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was charged with lawfully in a dwelling, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer. She was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of May 29, 2023.
Man Arrested for Assault with a Weapon CK23021100
On May 2, 2023, at 1:13 a.m., police located the man on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg. Officers confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant related to an assault investigation in 2020.
Upon a search, incident to arrest, the officer located suspected cocaine on the man’s person.
The 41-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with possessing a controlled substance, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault with a weapon. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of June 8, 2023.
