The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 215 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eight people were arrested.
Woman Charged with Weapon and Drug Related Offences CK23022864
Yesterday morning, police responded to a disturbance at a residence on Tweedsmuir Avenue in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that during a verbal argument, the woman brandished a weapon. The woman fled the residence prior to police arrival, however, was located a short distance away in a vehicle.
Upon being searched incident to arrest, the woman was found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl and other drug paraphernalia. The weapon was not located.
The 32-year-old woman of no fixed address has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and drug possession for the purposes of trafficking. She was released pending a future court date June 15, 2023.
Man Charged with Assault CK23022910
Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a family dispute at a residence in Chatham.
A 42-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assaulting his brother. He was released pending a future court date of June 12, 2023.
Man Charged with Impaired Driving CK23022972
Yesterday around 5:30 p.m. police received information that a man was drinking alcohol while in the driver’s seat of his vehicle in a parking lot of a business in Dresden.
Officers located the man and through investigation suspected he was in care and control of his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. A roadside breath test was administered, and the man failed. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.
The 41-year-old Dresden man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He was released pending a future court date of June 5, 2023.
