The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 175 calls for service in the past 24 hours. Eight people were arrested, and two were on outstanding warrants.
Woman Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK23011323
At 9:56 a.m., police responded to a domestic disturbance on Blythwood Crescent in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned the woman and a man verbally argued. The argument escalated when the woman assaulted the man by placing her hands around his neck.
The 20-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with assault. She was transported to police headquarters, where she was released with conditions and a future court date of April 17, 2023.
Man Arrested for Driving, Drug and Weapon Offences CK23011363
At 1:11 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle collision on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.
Police learned the man was driving south on McNaughton Avenue at a high rate of speed when it collided with a vehicle exiting a parking lot, also travelling south. Both vehicles sustained extensive damages.
The man exited the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene but was detained by bystanders.
Police arrived and arrested the man. Upon search and incident to arrest, the man possessed suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl. He also possessed a homemade conducted energy weapon.
The 33-year-old Ridgetown man was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to stop after a collision, driving without a license, driving a motor vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock device, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, weapons dangerous, and five counts of possessing a weapon contrary to a prohibition order. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
Woman Arrested for Assault CK23011410
At 5:45 p.m., police responded to an assault investigation on George Street in Ridgetown.
Upon arrival, police learned the woman entered the victim’s home without invitation and engaged in a verbal argument. Another woman was also in the house and attempted to calm the situation. The woman grabbed this woman by the arm and shoved her aside. The woman continued to follow the victim and her grandchild around the house, yelling. The woman left the residence but returned with a baseball bat, holding it up and threatening to cause harm to the homeowner.
The 43-year-old Ridgetown woman was arrested and charged with being unlawful in a dwelling, weapons dangerous, uttering threats, assault with a weapon and two counts of assault. She was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of April 3, 2023.
Police are Looking for the Public’s Assistance CK23011205
Sometime overnight between March 3, 2023, and March 4, 2023 unknow suspect(s) entered a vehicle on James Court in Chatham and removed several items including two small urns.
