The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 185 calls for service in the past 24 hours. Two people were arrested, and one was on an outstanding warrant.
Woman Arrested for Fraud CK23012269
On January 6, 2023, police began a fraud investigation.
Police learned the victim had lost their wallet a few months prior. The wallet contained cash, two cheques, credit cards and identification. One of the cheques had been altered and cashed.
Through investigation, police obtained banking information and formed grounds to charge the woman with fraud.
On March 13, 2023, at 11:28 a.m., the woman was arrested and charged with forging documents and fraud under $5000. She was released with conditions and a future court date of April 17, 2023.
Man Issued 3-Day Suspension CK23012370
At 10:15 p.m., police responded to a traffic complaint on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.
Police located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The officer believed the man driving was under the influence of alcohol and conducted a roadside test.
The 79-year-old Chatham man was issued a 3-day suspension, his license was seized, and his vehicle was towed.
Man Arrested for Being Intoxicated in a Public Place CK23012378
At 11:00 p.m., police responded to Running Creek Drive in Wallaceburg for a Family Dispute.
Upon arrival, police located the man and found him intoxicated and unable to care for himself.
The 24-year-old Wallaceburg man was transported to police headquarters and held until sober.
